As we age, we are more susceptible to gaining excess fat in the midsection. The best way to tone the abdominal area is to decrease your caloric intake, practice good posture, and exercise. Regarding exercise, there are many of the best abdominal workouts that you can perform to get your abs in shape. You can use some of the traditional exercises for your abdomen. There is a variety of ab fitness equipment from which you can choose to minimize your midsection. Whichever method you choose, make sure your back is not strained because this can result in serious injury.
There are effective non-equipment workouts that you can perform. Crunches are the most common and best method of getting the ab in better shape. You can do crunches anywhere. The three most effective abdominal crunch exercises include the captain’s chair, the vertical leg crunch, and the bicycle. The captain’s chair (no fitness equipment needed for this workout) involves you lying on your back and placing your legs on a chair. You then simply crunch upwards. The vertical leg crunch is a bit tougher and you will feel its effects on your abdomen after only a few reps. You lie on your back with your legs crossed in a vertical position. Like the captain’s chair workout, you just raise yourself up using your ab muscles. As its name implies, the bicycle crunch is performed like riding a bicycle. You can work your oblique muscles with this exercise by touching your elbows to the opposite knee.
If you want to use equipment, you have several choices. One of the best choices with consumers due to its ease of use and low cost is the exercise ball. Working out with an exercise ball not only can strengthen your abs, but can also improve your coordination. You can purchase a video such as “Exercise Ball Video - Awesome Abs” if you need a workout program. Some of the best ab machines such as the Ab Crunch Machine provides thorough workouts and is perfect for someone new to fitness training. This machine does most of the work so there is little chance of you injuring your back. If you watch any late night television you’ve likely viewed an infomercial of the Body by Jake Ab Scissor. This machine sculpts your abdominal muscles with a unique system that uses your own resistance.

How to Know if You are Overtraining

As everyone knows, exercise is good for you. It helps to keep your weight down, helps to keep you toned up, and helps to make you feel good. So then, if getting a little exercise is good for you, then it must be better to get even more and if getting more indeed is better, then it stands to reason that getting a lot would be even better. Sounds logical, doesn't it? However, this is not always the case.
When you exercise with fairly high intensity, and you exercise that way often, there will come a time at some point when your body will begin to slowly start to shut down. People will get to this point at different times, depending on their fitness levels and exercise intensity and frequency. If after exercise you tend to feel more wore out than worked out, you may already be a victim of overtraining.
There are some signs that your body will give you both physically and mentally that will let you know that you are overtraining. It is wise to recognize these signs and act accordingly, before the problem gets to the point of causing you possible serious injury. Some of the major signs to be aware of are:
-Decreased performance -Lack of motivation -Poor coordination -Loss of appetite -Chronic muscle soreness -Chronic stiffness at the joints -Chronic headaches -Longer recovery times -Loss of concentration -Reduced self esteem -Depression
You need to understand that whatever your exercise goals are, your body needs ample time to recover and adjust to the demanding loads you placed on it. Sometimes people who are newcomers to the world of exercise will try to do too much too soon, and may ignore their body when it's trying to tell them to take a break.
In the case of some who have been into exercise for a while, they will often view these signs as an obstacle and feel the best way to deal with it is to "work through it" or "tough it out". For some others, the problems causing them to overtrain may be more psychological. Excessive exercise is now recognized as a legitimate problem, much like anorexia nervosa or bulimia.
For most, the solution to the problem is simply to exercise in moderation or cut back on the intensity from time to time. Use periodization in your routines. When you feel the signs of overtraining coming on, reduce the intensity of your workouts for a while. When you are ready to increase the intensity again (your body will let you know), then gradually start to pick it up again.
Know your limitations, and never try to compare yourself to anyone else as this is asking for problems. There are some times when you should even just take a whole week completely off and do no exercise at all. This is like taking a vacation from work, it gives you body and your mind a chance to relax and rejuvenate so you can start again a week later nice and fresh.
Remember, if you exercise to the point of overtraining it is almost as bad as not exercising at all. Overtraining will only impede your progress, not help it and in the long run, if you let yourself overtrain, you may be headed for some very unwanted side effects.

Fitness Training - How to Make It More Effective

1. Number of trainings. What's most necessary for making a fitness program more effective is establishing a certain number of trainings every week. It is considered that the minimum number of trainings is two (anaerobic) and three (aerobic) every week. If they are combined, their number can be reduced to three trainings a week (two combined and one aerobic). Obviously, an increase in the number of weekly trainings brings better and more rapid results. Their maximum number would be four force trainings (anaerobic) and six resistance trainings (aerobic).
Doing less than the minimum of training could lead to erasing of information and getting out of shape. Training more than the maximum indicated could bring with it the risk of over-training, of physical overwork.
2. Individualize the frequency of the programs. One of the roles of the fitness trainer is to individualize the frequency of the programs, in order to find the best periodicity for every person involved in training.
3. Performing the exercises correctly. Another factor that can increase the effectiveness of a training program is performing the exercises correctly. Wrong technique will quickly determine worse results, even if the program which includes those exercises is well conceived, organized in time and personalized. Besides lack of good results, the person who didn't acquire good training technique exposes himself to the risk of sometimes very bad accidents (muscular ruptures, hernia, stroke, etc.).
4. Performed automatically. The movements a person learns must get to be mastered and performed automatically, the same as the technique of breathing which accompany them. This way, the sportsman will save mental energy that he can use for getting the right intensity, focusing on the muscle towards which a particular exercise is directed, forced repetitions of movements, etc. Any new exercise require patience and time in order to be correctly assimilated and introduced in the set of exercises mastered by any sportsman.
5. Well-balanced diet and hydration. Besides a well-balanced diet (carbohydrates, proteins, lipids – 4:1:1 – the proportion in grams per kilogram of food principles), hydrating must be given special care. Good hydrating of the body has as a result the increase of the efficiency of a fitness program. The body must be carefully hydrated before, during and after training. The sensation of thirst must not be experienced – this would only be a late signal of dehydration. The types of liquids that can be used can and should vary a lot: soda, plant teas, fruit, fresh juice, isotonic drinks, energizers, etc. Be also careful with the drinks that fasten dehydration. This category of liquids includes drinks which contain caffeine or alcohol. They forcedly increase dieresis, fastening dehydration, which is also naturally determined by the training (especially by aerobic training).
6. Biorhythm. Another factor that must be considered is biorhythm, which is specific to each person. The training must thus be placed at the time of maximum physical efficiency, time which is directly related to the increase of the body temperature.

It has been complicated and mystified in our culture. You have been brought to an understanding that, without a thorough knowledge of a machine or the free weights room, you cannot master fitness. On the contrary, physical strength and an impressive physique are simple to achieve, and the cornerstone for a healthy body.
Obesity, scrawniness, whatever physical defect you visualize yourself to have, is easily overcome once you are given insight to the true sources of fitness. No gym membership is required. Very little time is required. More than anything else, fitness is a state of mind and a level of consistent commitment.
Thoroughly explore the issues of fitness, of building a physique that is healthy and attractive, and expand on the simple means to this end every day. Your greatest focus should be on how fitness can be simply incorporated into your daily events, with no significant need for strenuous exercise in your leisure time.
What you need to understand is that no matter what your job duties may be, there is a way and the time to perform your work duties and still strengthen your spine, your abs, your shoulders, arms, legs, and chest. Between this change in mindset and a few simple stretching techniques, a healthy and strong physique is easily accomplished.
Fitness and health are easier to attain than they are made out to be. Proper fitness is the key to excellent health. The fads in fitness, however, have misled, bored, and driven many away from the concept of fitness.
Try to find exercises that are easy to do, that will strengthen your body, balance your spine, invigorate your immune system, increase your lymphatic flow, and help you win the battle for a healthy body. In the process, you will slowly and surely move towards the physique that is right for you, using exercises that are pleasant, that actually feel good to do, and that will immediately increase your energy and strength.
Sculpting a healthy physique is a part of limiting and eliminating your physical problems, and the way you pursue physical fitness must be done right. It is important to not be deceived by fad books, fad diets, and fad exercise programs. These programs are difficult to follow and few follow through for life.
Create a program that is right for you by learning about foods and how to strengthen your physical body properly. Choose exercises that are actually pleasant to perform, and diets that are delicious and full of the ingredients your body will need to ward off stress and disease. What you will find in time is that the knowledge you obtain, and the exercises you do will be enough to make you a healthier person.

People who are physically passive, face many health problems in the long run. Heart attack is the most common problem faced by lethargic people. In the U.K. almost 70% of the adult population face this problem and about 25% of them are profoundly lazy. In Austrailia 33% of the population is indolent and therefore they are always in the worse of health.
It is necessary to be physically active as it reduces the chances of getting health problems. People who are associated with regular activities are usually away from physical illnesses such as cancers, heart diseases, and diabetes and are less likely to die earlier.
When you are physically fit you sense enthusiasm in life and thus become self-confident. You can even fight mental illnesses such as anxiety and depression. Your routine work will be done linearly with the set timetable.
It is ideal to burn about 200 calories every day for most of the days in a week. Therefore you must exercise for nearly about 30 minutes. There are some opinions rendered by medical experts to keep up the level of fitness:
1. Do not always use an elevator but at times climb the stairs.
2. Walk through the moving escalators.
3. Try walking instead of traveling by car or bike.
4. Complete your house chores with double speed.
5. Involve yourself in hobbies such as paintings, gardening or cleaning the garden.
6. Even if you are traveling by bus get up halfway and continue walking for the rest of the journey.
There are a few gains that you reap from the following tips:
1. The level of HDL increases.
2. Relieves your hypertension.
3. Shapes your body by removing excess fat.
4. The sugar levels will be normal.
5. Strengthens the bones.
6. It boosts your immune systems.
7. You can get rid of your mood swings and depression.
To attain the right level of fitness, it does not only mean you slog like an ass. You have to find some time to enjoy outdoors. It is a wise old saying that “all work and no play make jack a dull boy”. To be always motivated and feel energetic you must borrow the inspiration from the other sources. You can read new books, gather information or look for somebody whom you really adore. In this way you can fix a goal for yourself and improve your style of living. Entrust yourself to attend a gym or an aerobic class at least once a week.
Finally, see that the goal you choose must be real, smart and fruitful.

Walking is the easiest and the most effective form of exercise compared to the other exercises like weight lifting, swimming etc. Walking is a natural activity and it requires no location or schedule.
But before getting used to this program you must set a timetable so that you continue it during the long run. Many a times the schedule is disturbed because you try to commit yourself towards other work. Strictly note down an agenda and regularly go according to it. Walking is indeed the most reasonable form of program, which requires no investment. If you feel bored then you can walk with headphone and listen to some of the refreshing music.
Try to increase the walking time gradually. Start off for 10 minutes first; then slowly try to walk for around 20 minutes and increase the time gradually every week.
Along with the number of workouts you perform, it is also essential to maintain a regular and healthy eating habit. Three weeks after following a routine walking regimen, engage in dynamic activities like trekking, climbing hills etc. also keep on observing your weight through the meter. In this way you can get an idea to achieve a determined target.
There are a number of health benefits that you can derive from exercises such as weight reduction, stress reduction, mental alertness, increase in stamina etc. Exercise also keeps away diseases at bay.
Before beginning an exercise program you must consult a physician first.

Exercise reduces the chances of developing health problems. If you are suffering from obesity and diabetes, immediately plan an exercise schedule. Exercise and fitness programs are useful in managing your blood sugar levels. Adhering to an exercise program is necessary if you need to see results.
The most common heath problem in America is high triglyceride levels (high cholesterol). This problem is closely associated with other problems such as strokes and heart attacks. So to prevent this problem, it is better to pursue a wholesome diet. At the same time a regular exercise schedule is required too.
Nowadays people prefer to stay indoors due to the various entertainment devices at home. No activity has led to obesity. Parents must encourage their children to take up sports like basketball, volleyball and other exercises. Most of the Americans have become health conscious and are engaged in diverse sports types like swimming, aerobics, sports, running etc.
Brisk walking has become a very easy form of exercise today because it does not require any training. Volksmarch is a very popular activity in Germany where many people get together and go for a long walk in the evenings. They also enjoy eating together. So, go out and start exercising to stay healthy and fit.

3 More Excellent Health and Fitness Tips

Here are 3 top tips to help you develop your running, firstly, the common problem of stitches. Stitches are probably the most annoying things that you can get when you'r running, second only to getting cramp (I shall come back to cramp).
The best method to avoid getting a stitch is very simple, it is this: Simply do not eat or drink within 2 hours of going for a run. If you follow this advice you should not get a stitch, you are at least much less likely to anyway! If you do need a drink, only drink little sips!
Okay, when you're running, probably the most annoying thing you can suffer from is cramp! Most runners have probably experienced cramp of some sort during their lifetime and know what I'm referring to!
My second tip is an easy way to avoid this suffering! Cramp and dehydration go hand in hand, so my tip is to keep hydrated while running, especially on long runs where fatigue will take its toll! So take some water when you go out running, if you don't want to carry a water bottle while you run, then drop a bottle off half way round your route, then drink it when you reach half way, then pick it up again upon completion on your way home! Other options include hydro packs and other similar products which I personally find very effective during endurance runs! By keeping hydrated you will fight off cramp for a much longer time, but, if you do happen to get cramp, my top tip to get rid of it, is to stretch the muscle in question out, this will help relieve the cramp!
My third tip is a great way for measuring your cardiovascular fitness at a high intensity, then in the future as a monitor for seeing how you have progressed! Okay, start off by having a good thorough warm up, then the test is this: run as far as you can in a 12 minute period, this is recommended round a track to keep measurements accurate! As you run remember how many laps you have completed, when your alarm goes off after 12 minutes, stop where you are and work out the distance you have travelled, this distance is used to measure your fitness! Less than 1,750 metres is poor.1,750-2,250 is average.2,250-2,750 is slightly above average.2,750-3,500 is good!Anything over 3,500 is excellent!
Do this monthly and see how your fitness improves! This is a good measure of how you have improved!
Follow these 3 tips for happy running, and to gauge your improvements!

Last year I had a number of clients who started stubbornly on the Atkins diet despite my warnings. Immediately I saw almost profound results in their weight loss. I reminded them it was the loss of water weight, and warned of the strain on the kidneys and the high cholesterol risk.
During this time I was mastering my yoga practice as a complete vegan but found that my immune system had been profoundly compromised and I was currently on my third cold for the fall season.
Atkins was in the media again because of new study results indicating lowered cholesterol. I went to the Atkins book yet again with a more open mind, and decided to try the diet. I liked the contrarian view point to the current AMA position of the low fat diet, which seemed to be producing a society of increasing obesity. Atkins view of sugar as the culprit making you fat, not fat, made sense and the extra work from all the protein for the kidneys… it’s benign. I wanted to use his diet as a tool to get myself entirely off of any sugar.
I started out on the high protein, low carb aspect of the diet. As I reintroduced the animal proteins into my diet I could feel myself get stronger and the colds, finally stopped. I also saw my muscle bellies start to open and swell again. The cold of winter was not as painful as it had been while on my vegan diet.
I then summoned up the courage to start bringing fats into my diet, including bacon, egg yolks, cream cheese, heavy cream, whipped cream, even bacon rinds. On a daily basis I would marvel at having eaten these “forbidden foods” only to awaken the next day thin, svelte. I couldn’t believe this, result! I was loving eating all these foods so familiar yet banished since …childhood
I was in full swing eating the high fat, high protein, low carb diet at the time when the pictures on my website were taken. www.vitalsignsfitness.com I felt strong, but I had no energy!!! My walks on the beach were lethargic, I had to force myself to go that extra mile. I was thin but I felt like a beached whale. My love affair with Atkins continued a few more months. I followed his prescriptions religiously.
Eventually I had to add more carbs, I needed more energy. By carbs I mean vegetables, salads and whole grains. At this point I gained back the total of two pounds I had lost on Atkins. Body fat went from 16% to 18%, my energy was better. After 7 months I decided it was time to get the blood checked out and to my horror discovered that my cholesterol which had always been around 150 had rocketed up to 300!! Luckily my HDL to LDL ratio was still at a healthy level. Thanks to my forcing myself to exercise, I kept my HDLs high.
I immediately started drinking hot lemon juice with cayenne pepper every morning to clean my blood. I have now thrown away all the high fat foods and have once again, come back full circle to moderation and balance. A balanced diet. It takes a little more discipline but my energy is back and I can now eat the same meals as my husband so dinner preparation is simpler. My weight has not changed since I gradually introduced the carbs. I avoid at all costs the “white foods” flour, sugar, milk. I drink unsweetened soy milk I avoid foods in packages, boxes and bags. I feel a fine layer of fat but that’s okay its winter, I need it, and in the summer, heat always melts it off. I am completely off sugar and alcohol to keep blood sugar low.
Log into www.vitalsignsfitness in the Chat page where a discussion has already begun re: Atkins and other diet plans, add your comments or just read and muse. Or go to the Nutrition Program page and find out how many calories (protein, carbs, fats) you should eat to sustain your current or ideal weight.

Some people have a difficult time motivating themselves to workout. Others may have a hard time figuring out which work outs are best for achieving their goals. If you are experiencing these problems, you may need to work with a fitness trainer.
Fitness trainers are great at motivating you to work out properly and stay fit. They have experience with fitness, and will often know what is best for you to achieve your goals. When it comes to fitness, there are a lot of gimmicks and products available which simply do not work.
You often have to make guesses to try and figure out what works best when you exercise alone. A personal trainer will be able to see past all the gimmicks and point you in the best direction. They will be able to see you from a different perspective than you see yourself, and can quickly find solutions to problems which are keeping you from achieving your goals.
When you work with a fitness trainer, they will set you up with a program which is tailored to your health, age, and fitness specifications. Your fitness trainer will set up a eating plan, strength training plan, cardiovascular plan, and a progress chart.
Probably the most important thing gained from working with a fitness trainer is self confidence. Having someone complimenting you on your hard work will make you feel good about yourself, and will push you to continue.
Many people choose to stop exercising because they are not seeing the results they want fast enough, or they've tried some special diet which hasn't worked. Working with a fitness trainer will help you choose the right diets and the right methods of working out. They will point you in the best direction possible.

Even in the case of general fitness, training has its own well established rules. These rules refer to different aspects of doing the exercises: dosing (the number of series), repeating, intensity, rhythm, etc; but considering all these aspects is not enough. It is very important for the exercises to be performed correctly.
It is not easy at all for a beginner who has read something about fitness or to whom somebody described exactly how to do an exercise, to do it impeccably starting with the first sessions of training. Many times he has the impression that he does a movement correctly, even when he can see himself in a mirror from the gym. But only the experienced 'eye' of an instructor who has worked many programs for beginners is able to correct him effectively.
On the other hand, it is possible for the beginner to have the feeling that his modality of doing the exercises is wrong. If this is not the case, he needs, again, the instructor, to assure him his performance is correct. It is dangerous for the fitness practitioner's health and body state to self-educate from the first sessions. There are many positions, angles, programs of the machines which could be unadvisable in different situations, determined by every person's characteristics. Some examples of these particularities are: deformations of the spine, old accidents, operations, limits of the mobility of the joints, etc.
Another advantage of working under the supervision of an instructor is a good choice of exercises, machines, movements, which helps avoiding any risk of accidents. The role of the fitness instructor is not limited to working with beginners. Even the advanced might have the tendency to 'cheat' in doing some exercises or to introduce really difficult exercises, necessitating closer supervision. Also, an experienced sportsman might need, from time to time, a look 'from the outside', which could help him perfect his technique.
Another aspect closely related to the fitness trainer's assistance is the conception of the training programs. While for beginners the impossibility of creating their own training programs is obvious, the advanced could lose themselves in the jungle of possible choices, getting not to see the wood for the trees. In the same case of the advanced, the dangers of routine can be avoided much easier with help from the outside.
Maintaining the motivation and the interest for training is also one of the tasks the fitness instructor must face. He needs to show tact, intelligence and even diplomacy when working with the sportsmen or with the ones who practice fitness just for pleasure or for maintaining their health.
There could be some disadvantages of the involvement of the fitness trainer. His presence might be felt as patronizing, stressing, or unpleasant. Some cultural or social incompatibility between the trainer and the practitioner could make their communication, which is so important in this relation, really difficult.
However, the benefits we can have from working with a competent trainer are much bigger than the possible disadvantages and they make the effort of the sportsman more effective.

Let’s go through the staff that you will meet on your first visit to a health club.
The first person that you are going to meet at a health club is a receptionist that will introduce you to a salesman. The job of the receptionist is to give any new visitors a introduction to the salesperson and to set the tone of the conversation that you are about to have with the salesperson you are about to meet.
Health Clubs have staff that are usually cross trained and because of the type of work that there is in a health club it is probably OK to have trainers do membership sales as well. Remember that if the salespeople are doubling up as trainers you want to make sure that the trainers are really trainers and not just salespeople that took a weekend course in how to train people.
Besides sales staff every health club has some kind of training staff. Quite often with a smaller gym you will find the staff that does the selling is also the same staff that does the training. Other staff at the Health club may include a receptionist, juice bar staff, pro shop staff and equipment maintenance people.
When evaluating the staff at the health club, make sure that you are looking for credentials for the trainers. There are two types of certifications. Health Club trainer certifications are an important way to be able to judge whether the trainers have the skills to educate and show you how to eat and exercise. The following are the two most popular certifications.
NCCA certification - NCCA is a 3rd party governing body whose function it is to impose certification standards and identify quality programs to candidates and the public that are in strict compliance and produce valid, competent, and worthy personal fitness trainer graduates
ACE Certification - The ACE Personal Trainer Certification is designed for trainers providing any form of one-on-one instruction. Once you successfully pass the ACE Personal Trainer certification exam you will have demonstrated your knowledge of basic exercise science, nutrition, fitness assessment, exercise programming, and instructional and spotting techniques.
You should be asking about certifications and listening carefully to the answers that you get about these certifications. When I was younger certification was the first question that I was asked in applying for jobs at gyms so this should be important to you as well.
Lastly the staff that you will not see and should know about is the person that is doing maintenance on the equipment in the gym. I will cover this again but just be aware that if any equipment stops working in a health club or fitness center I have found that it will be fixed either in one day or in six months, the gym has to decide how important it is for equipment to be fixed.

Workout and Exercise Equipment At Home

If you want to start exercising in you own home, which kind of exercise equipment do you need? Your workout plan determines exactly which kind of training you are going to start up and the equipment that is necessary for this kind of workout. Most fitness experts tell us that we obtain the leanest, most defined muscles through a combination of aerobic exercise and weight training, so let's take a look at what we need to perform such training:
For aerobic exercise, which is the best way to lose fat and build cardiovascular endurance, all you need is 20 minutes of exercise per day with no equipment at all. Of course if you want to vary your aerobic training you can buy an exercise bike, treadmill, home skiers, elliptical machines etc., which will absolutely help you in working off some excess pounds.
Aerobic workouts shed fat, while weight lifting exercises replaces the lost fat with muscle. Weight training requires a little more equipment however, and the most important here are various weights. You can also use home fitness machines for resistance training. There are some combi machines on the market that can take care of all your weight and/or resistance training you need, for all your muscles in your entire body. And the price is amazingly low. Of course there are some quality differences and it normally pays to buy quality training equipment, especially if you are going to train for a lengthy period of time. Like in most cases you must weigh what it cost by how many years you'll be able to use it.
Workout at home vs. in a fitness center
By purchasing and installing home fitness equipment, you can do all your workout in the privacy of your own home without having to go to local fitness centers and paying membership fees.
Home fitness machines normally come with guides and some of them even vwith videos that teach you how to use it to get fit. By following these instructions you don't need a personal trainer to instruct you like in a fitness center or gym. By using home fitness equipment, you'll save time as you don't have to commute to the gym or fitness center and you also avoid waiting in line to use various training machines. You can utilize your time much better with home training devices because you can do your workout routines while your food is cooking, or even when having conversations with your family members.
If you place your workout equipment near your TV you can even do your complete exercise routine while you watch it. One of the worst things I feel about training outside the home, is that it gives me a bad consciousness because I have so much to do in my business. With training at home my time is much better utilized and I feel much more satisfied with the convenience of training this way. And I know this training is more efficient than having to stress over making my daily workouts.

Did you know that buying fitness equipment for your home isn’t really that difficult?
It’s true that the world of fitness equipment can seem like a maze at times and that there are literally hundreds of different types of fitness equipment pieces that might work well for your home arrangement. However, with a little guidance, the process really isn’t that hard and you will be amazed at the bargains that you can find if you just dig a little deeper than the average consumer is usually prepared to. Let’s take a look at some tips to help you out in your quest for new fitness equipment.
1. Look at used equipment. This is where some good deals can be found. Fitness equipment can obtain a weird status in a person’s home. They might have been really excited to buy it initially and dreams of a fit body and monthly gym savings might have filled their head. However, after 3 months, the equipment often sits vacant in that person’s home. Used equipment can be a really good deal due to the fact that it’s often times almost as good as new but now it’s for sale. To you. For cheap. Check out newspapers, Ebay, and other places; compare prices and get a deal.
2. Consider commercial fitness equipment. Often times, you can buy the same equipment that your local gym has. Imagine, you can have that same (gasp!) Stairmaster that has dogged you for years at the local Ballys, right in your basement. This might be appealing to some who have the capital to invest in a large piece of equipment. If you no longer have to pay a $50 monthly fee to go to a gym every month, this might be a really smart investment. Look into commercial equipment, you might be pleasantly surprised.
3. The first two points are almost worthless without considering the financing of your new fitness equipment. When looking to finance your new set of fitness equipment there are tons of important factors to keep in mind. You really don’t want to be paying too much for equipment that might be found at a cheaper price (after everything is considered) elsewhere.

I bet you're frustrated over the long lines at your local gym. Furthermore, I bet you don't appreciate being charged an extra $45 every month for a gym membership that you might not even use any more. Well, a home gym might just be the answer to what you are looking for. Buy the home gym equipment once and you don't have to keep paying the fees over and over again. Home gyms can be a sound investment for anyone looking to install one in their basement or workout room. Let's take a look at a few tips that might come in handy for anyone looking to install a home gym in their home.
1)Don't discard used equipment, but be sure and pick up a good deal on other people's discarded equipment (if that makes any sense). Used equipment can provide you a really good deal because some people (myself not included) go on exercise binges and buy equipment that they just quit using after a month or two. Their investment can certainly be your gain. Look through classifieds and on Ebay to research the best exercise equipment that you can possibly afford. Often times, you will find that the equipment that you are after is priced very reasonably.
2)Consider buying commercial fitness equipment. A lot of the time, the regular home gym equipment that you want to buy isn't what you are used to using at the gym. Find out what types of stuff you like the best and do some due diligence. Look for commercial fitness equipment dealers and you should be able to shop for the same stuff that the local workout spot has for you.
3)Get knowledgeable about the different types of home gym equipment. All equipment is not created equal. Figure out what the different types of equipment are and what the advantages and disadvantages of buying different stuff is. There is an large array of equipment available. Make the right decisions.

Fitness is the key to optimal health and an exercise bike can help you to achieve just that. But, why an exercise bike? Why not go for something else? There are many reasons why you should purchase a bike and use it. If you plan to use it for a clothing hanger, don’t bother. But, if you are ready to improve your overall health, then you should consider the purchase of an exercise bike.
Here are some reasons why you need a bike:
Are you seriously overweight? Those that are more than 25 pounds overweight often have trouble losing that weight no matter what they try. The catch 22 is that you need exercise to lose the weight but you barely can make it from the bedroom to the living room without becoming tired. How can you possibly do a routine that will allow you to lose weight? An exercise bike is the perfect solution because it allows you to work at your own pace. It allows you to start off slowly and build up in speed gradually without overexerting yourself.
Heart problems? Many doctors that have patients with cardiac conditions will tell them they need to lose weight. But, stressing out the heart is a huge problem for them. The benefit here is that the body gets a workout and the cardio workout obtained is significant but light enough for many heart patients. Simple. It’s the right combination for those with a heart condition. Of course, as with all other fitness equipment, you should consider talking to your doctor before starting any exercise program.
You won’t go broke- Most people can afford a decent bike. That’s because you don’t have to purchase the most expensive to get the benefits of exercise. A simple stationary bike can be a great way to start off.
Do you get bored? Okay, the problem with many exercise routines is that they are boring or too hard. But, with an exercise bike this is anything but true. If you find yourself becoming bored, move the bike in front of the TV. Turn on your favorite football game and you’ll never realize you did three miles while the team has the ball. You get your mind working and your body too.
Easy to do- Many people find that things that are too hard are things they just find excuses not to do. With an exercise bike, you have less of a chance of this because you can do it. Results happen each time you get on and you’ll see yourself building muscles that burn fat and you’ll see the inches coming off. It’s that easy.

Is Refurbished Fitness Equipment as Good as New?

People often shy away from Refurbished Fitness equipment, but generally this is only because they aren't familiar with the term refurbished. In today's world saving money is important. If you can cut costs without sacrificing value is the aim of the game. No matter if you're a seasoned deal hunter or just out trying find a bargain, a piece of refurbished fitness equipment may be just what you're looking for shape up your body and your bank account.
Most times when someone hears the word refurbished they think something is wrong with the item, or it's defective. How ever nothing could be further from the actual meaning of the word. Refurbished could mean that an item has been damaged but it also holds several other meanings as well. Refurbished fitness equipment could be customer a customer return. Most equipment stores do offer some sort of return/refund policy on most items in their store. Most cases when an item is returned the store will return the unit to the manufacturer for inspection, and repackaging, however the item can no longer be deemed as new. The manufacturer would then redistribute the equipment as refurbished fitness equipment. This same situation is what would occur if an item were damaged during shipping. There's a good chance that nothing is wrong with the unit, but the retailer or customer decides that they do not want anything damaged in shipment. Because the item is no longer brand new, it could never again be sold as such. But, if there were problems corrected by the manufacturer, the unit then becomes refurbished.
It's possible that an item labeled as refurbished fitness equipment could have some simple cosmetic damage, possibly a dent or scratch, or possibly a more serious cosmetic defect. However cosmetic damage doesn't mean that there is a serious problem with the functioning of the equipment, but it is no longer brand new. Hence if the manufacturer inspected it, it's now considered refurbished.
If a piece of fitness equipment is on demo or display at a store, often it's replaced by a new unit and the demo is removed from the sales floor. Generally these demo pieces are sent back to the manufacturer for inspection. The reason for an inspection to take place is to ensure there are no damages or defects, most often the item is repackaged and sent back to a retailer dealing in refurbished fitness equipment. In a situation like this the only thing separating a brand new item and the refurbished unit is the fact that one was on display.
Other refurbished classifications may involve a box that was simply opened by mistake, directions that are missing or overstock of a particular item. The bottom line is that, whenever a product is returned to the manufacturer for any reason, it is then inspected. If repairs are needed, the manufacturer takes care of those repairs before repackaging the item. If it's a simple case of missing directions, they are replaced. The product is then shipped and resold as refurbished fitness equipment.
Other reasons for product being deemed refurbished could be an open box model, or a unit missing directions. When a product is returned to the manufacturer and they are required to inspect it or make some repairs before it is re-saleable the unit becomes refurbished. It could be as simple as missing directions, or a repair to a part of the item. The fact is that the original manufacturer makes the repairs, and then ships them out to be resold.
When purchasing refurbished equipment it's important that you're familiar with the stores refund and warranty policy. If there isn't one it may not be the best idea to make your purchase there. When possibly ask your sales person if they know why the item is refurbished, and what the original problem may have been.
The contents of this refurbished fitness equipment article are intended for educational purposes only and should not be considered, or used as, medical advice or recommendations. Before starting any fitness routine, you should consult with your family doctor or a licensed physician to learn what risks, if any, exist.

For anyone with even a remote interest in Pilates, the equipment used for training is extremely interesting. With exciting names like the Reformer and the Cadillac, how could one not be interested? While there are literally dozens of individual pieces of equipment and props for use in Pilates training, we will be focusing on two of the more popular ones.
The idea for the Reformer was born when the founder of the Pilates system, Joseph Pilates, was interned in England during the First World War. He spent much of his internment training investigators from Scotland Yard in the Pilates method, and working to find ways to help rehabilitate bed-ridden patients suffering from the 1918 influenza epidemic. The first prototype was actually created using bits and pieces of old hospital beds.
The Reformer is comprised of a series of springs attached to a sliding platform supported by a frame. In some ways, it is very similar to rowing machine. The platform can be moved in two ways; by pulling on the pulleys, or by pushing off of the foot bar. It can be challenging for some people to get used to the sensation of moving the platform and maintaining balance at the same time. There are dozen of exercises that can be performed on this piece of equipment, but please consult a professional instructor before attempting these exercises on your own.
The Cadillac is another popular piece of Pilates training equipment. It has been said that the Cadillac resembles some form of medieval torture equipment, and has earned the nickname of "the rack". Be not afraid. The Cadillac is one of the most ingenious and effective types of fitness equipment ever designed. It has a platform and posts on each of the four corners. It is not unlike a bed, in some ways. The corner posts support various levers and pulleys, which provide resistance during your workout.
Joseph Pilates, and his legion of protégés, have designed well over 80 individual exercises that can be performed on the Cadillac. Each group of exercises is designed to focus on a specific group of muscles. Many of the exercises have a particular focus on developing core strength in the abdominal region. As with other types of exercise equipment, do not attempt to use the Cadillac without a proper demonstration from a certified professional.

Working out at home has so many advantages over traveling to a gym or training facility. It's certainly less expensive, it can be done around your own schedule, and there is no wasted travel time. Besides that home fitness workouts let you accomplish your exercise routines in a controlled environment with no interference from the weather. Because of all of the benefits of home fitness programs, it's no wonder that so many people now choose to workout at home. Here is some of the best fitness equipment that you can choose from for your fitness workouts:
1. Treadmills are the most popular fitness machines by far. Estimates are that over 11 million people in the US have one. They solve the old problem of walking and running outdoors, the weather. Everyone knows that walking and running are great overall aerobic activities for your health, and experience throughout the years has proven that, but it's not always practical to run or walk outside. Modern treadmills let you set your own pace and angle of incline as you go, and many even come with programs that let you more closely simulate an outdoor walk or run electronically.
2. Elliptical trainers are fast catching on with many, especially those that have sensitive joint pain from impact exercising. No exercise is good for you in the long run if you can't do it regularly because your joints won't allow it, so the elliptical trainer helps solve that problem by combining the motion of a cross country skiing machine with that of a stair stepper, and all of it is done smoothly, with very little impact.
3. Home gyms are very popular these days too as they let an exerciser target specific muscle groups in the body through resistance and build strength and conditioning as a result. There are several different kinds of home gyms that run the gamut from inexpensive to very costly, so you need to examine them all and see what will meet your personal needs best, and also fit in the space allotted at home.
4. Yoga and pilates are great compliment exercise programs that can work along with a cardio routine to help promote overall body conditioning and flexibility. As we grow older our bodies are nowhere near as elastic as they used to be and the movements and poses of yoga and pilates can help bring much of that suppleness back, and maintain it afterward.
There is no one best fitness equipment or routine that fits everyone. That's why it's impossible to make a blanket suggestion of which equipment to use that will do the job for every person. You may have to try out different pieces of equipment and different workout routines before you find the one that fits you best, but your improved mental and physical health will be well worth the effort taken.

How to Find the Best Home Gym Equipment

Using home gym equipment for strength training has become a very popular component of many people's home fitness workouts. The benefits of strength training are many and well-documented, and they can be very useful for overall body conditioning. But there are so many choices to be made when looking at home gym equipment, so which will make the best choice for you? Here are a few points to consider:
Actually, the very least expensive strength training equipment is a good set of free weights and dumbbells, but they can also be unsafe if you don't know how to use them. Proper form and balance are essential to getting the results you want without hurting yourself along the way. So if you decide to go this route, it's a good idea to invest in a training program that will show you how to use your equipment properly and avoid injury.
Because of the safety factor, strength training machines have become much more popular, even penetrating the home fitness market. One of the advantages of strength training machines, or home gyms, is that they allow you to perform your exercises in a more safe manner, keeping your body positioned to maintain proper form as you exercise.
Home gyms are generally divided into two major categories, and again these categories often pertain to price. The lower cost home gyms are often featured on television and in magazines, being recommended by well-known celebrities and public personalities. You can even find them being advertised on infomercials as well. The two most common home gyms in this field are the Bowlex and the Crossbar.
Both of these kind of strength training machines use rods or bars to provide resistance for your muscles as you train, and many people feel that they do their job very well. The big advantage of using this kind of equipment is the lower cost involved.
The higher end of the home gym equipment field are machines that use a more traditional weight stack or plates. They more resemble the kind of machines that you would find in a typical fitness gym. But they are also much more expensive, and they can tend to take up a lot of room. So before buying this kind of equipment you need to make sure that you have the room to be able to accommodate it in advance.
Any of the equipment mentioned above can be used successfully by the average person at home to help them reach their fitness goals. But as with all fitness equipment, you need to try them out before you buy and make sure that you feel comfortable with the way the equipment works. And never began a strength training regimen without doing so under the supervision of a qualified physician to prevent injuries as you train.

There is plenty of home gym equipment to choose from these days, but all gym equipment is not created equal. As with most home fitness equipment, there are pluses and minuses for almost every model you want to name. But when you read all of the consumer reviews that are available, certain models do rise to the top of the ratings. And here are the results of those findings now.
First of all, we have to divide the reviews into two parts, the first having to do with the most popular home gym equipment that uses bars and rods to create the resistance needed for each exercise. These type of home gyms often fold up and take up very little floor space. They tend to be very convenient and easy to use. The second type of home gym equipment still uses a weight system of some type instead. Because of that, they are often much more bulky, large machines that take up more space.
The two most popular home gyms that feature rods and bars for resistance are the Bowflex made by Nautilus, and the Crossbar made by Weider. Each machine has it's own strengths and weaknesses. The Bowflex is much easier to assemble, and it comes with excellent instructions on how to use it. The Crossbar on the other hand, takes more time to put together, but it costs and awful lot less than the Bowflex. All things considered, most reviewers and consumers seem to feel that the Crossbar gets the overall nod mainly based on price. Both machines seem to do almost equally as well as each other when actually performing exercises. Expect to pay between $1500 and $2000 for a Bowflex, and around $500 for a Crossbar.
If you are really serious about home strength training then you will probably opt for one of the more traditional weight stack machines instead. There are several of them on the market that do a fine job, but one that seems to get very good reviews and reports from consumers is the Hoist V5. It's certainly not cheap, costing well over $3000. But according to all sources it is a very high quality, strong and sturdy, strength trainer that will do just about everything that you need. It includes a 200 lb. weight stack, a chest press, a lat pulldown, and a leg extension/curl feature. It functions smoothly and easily with near gym quality motion.
One very important point to keep in mind is that no strength training machine will help you reach your goals if you don't remain consistent in using it. So having the best equipment and training inconsistently will never match the performance of a lesser quality home gym that is used on a regular basis.
It's also important to enlist the help of your doctor to make sure that the strength training program you are engaged in will be beneficial and not cause you injury.
There is plenty of other home gym equipment to consider when shopping in this field, but hopefully the information we have provided above will help you decide on equipment that will best fit your needs.

Equipping The Bowflex Home Gym

The Bowflex fitness machine takes care of most exercise, strength training and overall fitness training. It replaces most of the gym equipment found at the local gyms today and makes it easier to get an almost total workout using only one machine. You can perform a fitness routine on a Bowflex at home just as if you were at the local gym and using all of the gym equipment there.
Still, there are a few pieces of fitness equipment that you may need in your home-based gym to supplement the workout you get from your Bowflex.
Health care professionals almost always say that walking an hour a day, combined with eating a healthy diet, is one of the best things a person can do for cardiovascular or heart health. A treadmill is helps with cardio fitness and compliments a Bowflex fitness machine if walking outside is not an option. Treadmills come in many different styles, but a simple treadmill can be used effectively with your regular Bowflex workouts and fitness routines.
Other Possible Items for Your Home Gym
Upright, stationary bikes are smaller pieces of gym equipment that take up much less room in a workout area than a treadmill. This is a great choice if your space is limited. Upright bikes are often used in place of treadmills for the cardiovascular fitness routines that are needed for a well-balanced workout.
Medicine balls help with endurance and joint integrity that may hinder and stop a full and complete workout on a Bowflex. Medicine balls are not really considered a necessity for the home gym setup, but in the long run they are very useful. They help with arthritis and other signs of aging.
Hand grippers are a handy little piece of gym equipment that works on improving hand strength while toning and building bigger forearms. They can help prevent any accidents on a Bowflex due to a weak grip.
Fitness balls help tone and shape the muscles that help make a body more flexible. Aerobic exercise equipment such as fitness bands and cords also help with flexibility and give the consumer a great alternative to using weights. They can also help intensify the muscle building exercises on the Bowflex.
A balance disc helps with core body development and training with balance. The balance disc can be adjusted by deflating it or giving it more air for a customized work out.
Most of the Bowflex fitness machines do not come with all the proper cardiovascular or fitness workout attachments to get a complete, well-rounded workout and fitness routine. They do cover almost all of the gym equipment that would be used for strength training and circuit training for muscle building and toning of the legs, arms, chest and abdominals.
The Bowflex fitness machine should not be the only piece of exercise equipment in the home, if there is room in the workout area. It lacks the cardiovascular aspect of a total workout that a well-rounded fitness routine needs. At the least, a treadmill or stationary bike should definitely accompany the Bowflex in your home gym.

How To Find A Cheap Cross Trainer

Purchasing a cheap cross trainer seems to be becoming more and more popular. They are of course eminently practical in that you can use them regardless of the outside weather conditions and if it's morning, evening or the middle of the night. They also give you a very good comprehensive workout and the fact that it is all contained within one machine makes them an ideal solution for many people seeking to exercise at home. But as with all things that must be purchased with money your finances will inevitably play a part in your choice. So many people actively seek out and decide to buy a cheap cross trainer without sacrificing any of the advantages that this home exercise machine has to offer.
When evaluating a cheap cross trainer it is important to make sure that the machine that you buy is fit for the purpose of getting you into better shape. There is no point in just concentrating solely on price unless you have a very restricted budget to the detriment of the quality of the machine and consequently it’s ability to cope with the demands that you will place on it. That said, it is possible to get very good elliptical trainers at a very reasonable price if you look around and go through reviews on which is the best cheap cross trainer to buy.
But where is the best place to find a good cheap cross trainer? As with most things these days it is probably online. There are many good sites that that will sell exercise equipment at well below the market price that is prevalent in many of the normal exercise equipment shops and retail stores. After all, they have fewer overhead costs and thus are able to keep their prices lower and rely on large amounts of sales to make their profits. Although it may be more pleasant to wander around in a large exercise equipment store in order to choose an elliptical trainer at your leisure, you have to take into account the fact that you will also be paying for the facilities and also the staff costs. Naturally, all this will be factored into the store price for the cross trainer and consequently it is often higher than is available at a good online store.
Even if you're looking for a cheap cross trainer and you are shopping online it is still a good idea to shop around. After all, although exercise equipment is generally cheap online this is not necessarily true on every fitness equipment site. If you are prepared to put in a little work and do some research you can come up with some very good deals that will save you lots of money over the original retail price. Also remember, besides the usual exercise and equipment sites there are also price comparison sites that will allow you to look at which shops have the best deal for any particular exercise equipment and ensure that you get a great cheap cross trainer at a price you can afford.

Why Elliptical Trainers are Growing in Popularity!

If you work out at a health club you probably noticed that in the last few years there are fewer treadmills, because they are being replaced by elliptical trainers. And although treadmills still outsell ellipticals in total numbers, elliptical sales are growing at a faster rate.
What is driving the popularity of elliptical trainers? There are two factors that make elliptical trainers so appealing:
-Low Impact Workout -Upper and Lower Body Workout
Benefits of a Low Impact Workout
Most types of exercise require some type of impact and/or reverse action. For example, when you walk each step is impacting force on your ankles, knees and lower back. That impact is minor in comparison to running, which can be as much as 2.5x your body weight. Over the years that constant pounding can result in long-term injuries and strains.
Elliptical trainers reduce the hazards of impact through an elliptical motion. It feels like you are naturally walking or running without any real impact or reverse action, and yet it is a weight bearing exercise that contributes to building muscle and bone density.
If you look at the side of an elliptical trainer you’ll notice the shape of the motion is like a flat circular pattern. Budget ellipticals tend to be more circular and bouncy, while quality machines have a flatter circular motion and more of an even stride. Regardless, the elliptical motion significantly reduces the impact to your joints, and that is why elliptical trainers are appealing to older individuals and people with injuries. It is becoming the exercise machine of choice for the “baby boomers.”
Benefits of an Upper and Lower Body Workout
The concept of exercising the upper and lower body simultaneously is revolutionary. An elliptical workout utilizes the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, chest, back, triceps and biceps. There is no other machine that offers this benefit. You are not only exercising more muscle group, you are also optimizing your energy expenditure. That means it is taking less time to achieve more results, like burning calories and increasing your cardio capacity. A number of elliptical trainers allow you to reverse the motion, thereby emphasizing resistance to even more parts of your muscles.
By exercising more of your muscle mass you improve fat mobilization, which results in burning more calories and building muscle endurance more efficiently. Certain experts have suggested that this dual action process reduces the perceived rate of exertion. In other words, you are exercising harder without a noticeable difference from a less strenuous workout.
The benefit of an upper and lower body workout, combined with low impact exercising, are the reasons why elliptical trainers are so popular. And there is one other feature that should be noted. In comparison to treadmills, elliptical trainers require considerably less maintenance. That is due to the fact there are fewer moving parts, and less wear from impact.
If you haven’t tried an elliptical trainer, get to your local health club or a fitness equipment store and take one for an elliptical spin. Avoid the budget models and test the machines that are at least $1,000+. They have a more natural elliptical motion and are more stable and durable.
You’ll find that an elliptical trainer can have a major impact on your health and fitness.

Home fitness equipment is a great investment. Exercising in the privacy of your home offers both easy access and stability to your daily work out. Unfortunately, most newbie exercises make big mistakes when purchasing their first piece of fitness equipment. The first mistake fitness equipment buyers make is to purchase a machine with too many features.
First of all more features means more money. In the case of fitness equipment more money does not mean better quality. Many of the electronic features fitness equipments offers are never used or used very rarely. This is because most people can not figure out how to accurately use the computer and give up. The basic fitness equipment attributes are all that you need. Just like buying a car or a piece of furniture check for building quality. Ask yourself is the equipment well put together, sturdy, durable, and stable. Good construction combined with a quiet machine are the only real qualities you need to look for in a treadmill. The same is true for all fitness equipment.
Make sure you try out the equipment before buying it. The first place to start is a gym, buy a month membership and go in and see what you like and hate. Once you find a piece of fitness equipment you are interested in then go out to several stores and try their machines. Make sure you wear your exercise clothes and exercise shoes. Most fitness machines look great just sitting them, turn it on and use for a good twenty minutes. Weight machines should be used for at least 20 repetitions. Do not be afraid to try something out of your price range. Have fun when you go out looking, see what the high end equipment offers and what features you can do without and then purchase your fitness equipment accordingly.
If you are beginner in the exercise world, do not buy something complicated or hard to use or setup. You will not use, and you have wasted your money. Many of the high end fitness equipment require the coordination of upper and lower bodies which can be quite overwhelming for people who are less experienced with exercise routines. Do not be afraid to ask questions. Do not be afraid to ask for an information sheet and inquire about all costs. Look for discounts and sales. Many fitness equipment sellers will offer to put together your new fitness equipment and deliver it for you no extra cost or a small fee – let them! For an extra hundred you will not have the headache of assembly and you will make sure the piece of equipment is put together correctly.

Power Rod Resistance in the Bowflex

Bowflex power rod units are made for strength and resistance training. Power rods offer a combined weight of two hundred and ten pounds of pressure, which is spread out over ten different rods. The Bowflex Xtreme, Xtreme 2 and the Sport all feature five rods on each side.
The Bowflex Ultimate and Ultimate 2 have six power rod units for each side of the fitness equipment with a combined weight of three hundred and ten pounds of pressure for more advanced workouts. All Bowflex fitness machines and gym equipment can be upgraded to have a combined total of four hundred and ten pounds of resistance spread over fourteen power rod units, with seven on each side of the home gym system. You attach one or more of the power rod units that come with your Bowflex to the cable pulley system for a customized, efficient resistance training work out. Bowflex are used to strengthen muscles by applying resistance to the work out. This is not to be confused with a stair stepper, rower machine or any other types of aerobic machines or fitness trainers that also offer a form of resistance for a work out.
When you walk on a stair stepper, the steps have resistance to provide a more effective cardiovascular work out. The skier machine, rider machine and other fitness trainers use resistance just like the Bowflex power rod units, but the resistance is used to make a work out more intense and not used to strength train and build muscles as it is with the Bowflex. The Bowflex machines use the power rod units to build muscle and claim that it is better and more effective than aerobic exercises and other fitness trainers. The increase in muscle mass increase the metabolism rate as well. More calories are burned during a resistance-based workout.
Have you ever been in the middle of a work out and discovered you were just too tired to complete your routine? Muscle helps shape a body and it gives you the strength and energy you need to complete an effective work out. Bowflex resistance training enhances this muscle development. Bowflex claims their power rod units can be flexed repeatedly. Even if you use your Bowflex every day, year after year and the power rods should not break or lose their resistance ability in any way. The rod units come with a No-Time-Limit Warranty and offer you free replacements provided that it is still owned by the original purchaser and has not been misused, mistreated or abused in any way. The Bowflex power rod units are manufactured under quality control measures using the best and most flexible materials. The units are covered with a plastic coating that is extremely flexible and tested in different conditions found in a home workout setting.
The Bowflex power rod units are not the complete workout. For the power rod units to provide you with a good work out, you'll need to work out several times a week for at least 30 minutes and eat a healthy diet. You'll also need aerobic exercise in order to complete your work out routine.

If you go to any major gym or health club like 24 Hour Fitness, Bally's, the YMCA, or even Gold's Gym, you are going to see many elliptical exercise machines all over the gym. Elliptical fitness machines are quickly becoming the hottest trend in fitness today. Whether it's at the gym or in the home, these machines are dominating the fitness industry today. It's no wonder why either, elliptical fitness machines give you a great cardiovascular workout along with toning your muscles and providing several other conditioning exercises.
While these elliptical fitness machines can be found in every gym and health club in the country, there are many people who would rather work out in the privacy of their own homes instead. With such a wide variety of ellipticals on the market, the question comes down to trying to decide which one to purchase? How do you sort out the good ones from the not so good ones? After all, you want to get the best elliptical machine for your money, but you also want the best fitness workout and equipment reliability.
Due to the fact that specifications can vary widely between machines, as well as all the different price points, the decision on which fitness machine to purchase can be extremely confusing and difficult. Although price is a very important consideration, there are as many expensive elliptical machines that perform poorly as there are ones that work very well. The same can be said for the less expensive versions as well. Before you go out and purchase an elliptical fitness machine it would be wise to gain a basic knowledge of what to look for.
One of the better ways of educating yourself on ellipticals is to read many of the consumer reports in various fitness magazines. Magazines like Fitness Today always include reviews of the many different fitness and exercise machines on the market today. Another good way to get advice and recommendations is to simply ask for the opinions from others who use them at the local gym or fitness center. People love to give their opinions on everything in life and fitness is no different. Also, many health and fitness websites will have good reviews on fitness equipment posted by the various readers. You can find literally hundreds of these different websites by doing a simple search on the Internet.
It would be very helpful and wise to do your own research on elliptical fitness machines. Taking the advice of a salesman at the local fitness store may not be the best way to go. You may get some great advice and help, but then again you may not. By doing your own research you can discover what machine meets your particular requirements. You'll also find all types of different prices online that may include a real bargain on the elliptical fitness machine you really want.
All of the different consumer reports on ellipticals can be quite helpful when it comes time to making a decision on which fitness machine to buy and one that is in the price range you're looking for. Even though professional fitness reviews can be more detailed about specifications, etc., consumer reviews can often provide much better information. They typically include a wide range of opinions and first hand experiences on which elliptical machines are the best. If you keep these tips in mind, you'll find the perfect elliptical for your needs.
